Barbara Matheson

I work with adults of all ages, either long or short term, and have experience of working with a range of issues, including anxiety, depression, bereavement and loss, and a special interest in and experience of stress management, relationships, low self-esteem and confidence, university student issues, and womens’ health and wellbeing.

I’m an experienced and qualified counsellor. A registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapists (BACP), and work to the code of ethics set down by the BACP ethical framework.

I’m also a qualified and experienced supervisor offering supervision to qualified and student counsellors, and people  working in job roles where it’s helpful for their wellbeing to have a safe caring space to explore the work and its impact on them.

Prior to becoming a counsellor, I worked as a freelance learning and development consultant specialising in management development and stress management, and as a freelance licensed trainer for the award-winning Springboard Womens’ Development Programme.

I currently offer a low cost 30-minute informal consultation; an opportunity to meet with me, find out more about my approach, and then decide if you feel comfortable working with me as your counsellor.
